Oklahoma State cheerleader to face discipline after trying to trip Oklahoma player, The Oklahoma State cheerleader who tried to trip an Oklahoma player following the Sooners' final touchdown of last week’s Bedlam matchup will face discipline for his actions.

According to The Oklahoman, Jarid Atkinson stuck his foot out and tried to trip Oklahoma’s Eric Striker as he celebrated the game-ending touchdowns of the Sooners’ 33-24 win.

The Oklahoma State loss cost the Cowboys a Big 12 title and a BCS bowl berth.Atkinson told OSU deputy athletic director Dave Martin that he was playfully sticking out his foot and not actually trying to trip the Sooner. But Martin didn’t find the act funny.

Martin said in a statement to the Big 12 that Oklahoma State “does not condone, physical or verbally abusive acts toward anyone working, attending or competing in our athletic events.”

“I have met individually with the male student involved with the incident and he is extremely apologetic for his involvement. And he understands there will be consequences for his poor judgment and actions. At this time, I feel confident the situation has been thoroughly investigated and that consequences for the involved person are warranted and will be administered.”
