So it should come as no surprise that the former X Factor star drove his young fans wild with a brief display of twerking during the Teen Choice Awards. Yes, you read that right — Harry Styles twerking.
Next time, Harry Styles should probably stick to dancing. We’re sorry to say that, as far as twerking is concerned, the One Direction star is no Miley Cyrus. And he made a point of proving it during last night’s Teen Choice Awards.
Asked by hosts Lucy Hale nad Darren Criss to show his stuff, Harry broke out into a brief twerking session, eliciting cheers from the audience and surely a few high-pitched screams from younger viewers at home. After all, even if his dance moves are less than stellar, anything involving Harry Styles and booty shaking is sure to get a positive reaction from the oh-so-dedicated One Directions.
In the aftermath of Harry Styles’ twerking display, there was plenty of buzz throughout the Twitterverse. Reactions were decidedly mixed, with many users mocking the singer’s apparent lack of dancing ability and others defending his not-so-smooth moves. Harry found himself chiming in with the former, taking a moment to make fun of himself by tweeting, “Note to self. Don’t ‘twerk’.” Ed Sheeran also chimed in with a tweet that suggestd, “People need to stop encouraging little kids to twerk, it’s odd.”
