How to pick the best concealer. When covering a pimple, look for an opaque concealer with a dry texture. Unlike an under-eye concealer, which should have a more fluid consistency and lighter coverage like YSL Touche Eclat ($40), the concealer you use to cover a pimple should be thicker, not only for better coverage but also for longer lasting wear. Also, when testing shades, apply them near a window for natural light to see the truest representation of how well the shade matches your skin.

How to conceal a popped pimple. If the pimple has been recently popped or is secreting oils, clean it first with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol and apply a styptic pencil to stop any bleeding.
How to apply foundation and concealer. If you’re going to wear foundation as well as concealer, make sure they match. If you can’t find an exact match, look for a concealer palette, like Josie Maran Argan Blend Concealer ($28), and mix the color yourself. When applying foundation and concealer, always apply the foundation first. It will give you a bit of coverage, slightly concealing the pimple, so you may be able to use less concealer.
