January Jones' son Xander Dane, Twenty months after the birth of her son, actress January Jones opened up about her decision to remain mute on the paternity of her son this week, saying the identity of the child’s biological father will continue to remain private. The "Mad Men" star remained stoic to the rumors, telling the New York Times Friday that the alleged famous father will continue to be a mystery despite the public’s continuous prompting.
Since the birth of Xander Dane Jones in 2011, rumors have circulated that the biological father ranges from famous faces such as Jones’ “X-Men” director, Matthew Vaughn, to filmmaker Noah Miller. Rumors that three of the actress’ former flames, singer Josh Groban,“Two and a Half Men” actor Ashton Kutcher and “SNL” funny man Jason Sudeikis, have also circulated.
The 35-year-old actress responded vaguely to the rumors, stating, “That’s my son’s business. It’s not the public’s business.”
While the Sioux Falls, S.D., native said it was her decision to keep her family life secluded from the public eye, she did admit that a fellow celebrity gave her the idea to keep the identity of her father's child a secret.
“Jack Nicholson once told me: ‘You should never give your personal life away, otherwise people will pick you apart. They’ll never believe in your character,’" Jones said. “Women should have lots of secrets. It’s our right to have secrets. Otherwise, what would we write in our memoirs?”
The actress also refused to comment on rumors that she was dating “Hunger Games” star and fiancée to Disney alumnus Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth, after photographers caught the duo riding in an SUV together. Jones' refusal to deny the claims to TMZ reporters in March only further fueled the reports.
“I’m not trying to sell myself,” Jones told the New York Times. “I wouldn’t know how.”
Jones was last seen at the Costume Institute gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on May 6 where her unique and punk-inspired attire (see the photo here) reportedly garnered less-than-positive feedback. The actress remained confident in her fashion choices, channeling her “Man Men” character Betty Draper’s cold demeanor, stating, “So what? Those people don’t have degrees in fashion. Why would I care what they say?”
