Kristin Davis daughter Gemma Rose, From soap opera Melrose Place, to HBO hit series Sex & The City, to big-screen romantic-comedies like Couple’s Retreat to her recent Broadway debut in The Best Man, Davis has dedicated decades to performing. And it's a career for which she's thankful.
"I am so lucky that I get to even have a job that's creative at all," Davis told Celebuzz at the P.S. Arts Express Yourself event at Santa Monica Airport's Barker Hanger on Sunday. "It's such a rare and wonderful thing."
If she weren't in showbiz, where would Davis be?
"Oh, who knows?" she admitted. "I think I would just be very, very depressed if that weren't the case, let's put it that way. I don't know exactly where or what I'd be doing, but I would not be happy."
After hitting the silver screen in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island earlier this year, Davis stepped onto the Broadway stage in Gore Vidal's The Best Man, acting opposite John Stamos and James Early Jones in the star-packed political drama, which wrapped in early September. During the play revival's run, Davis did her best to balance work and mommy duty to daughter Gemma Rose.
I get to spend the day with her and then do the show," Davis told Broadway.com. "It's a great schedule when you have a little kid. Gemma's asleep most of the time I'm at the theater, so it works out."
But during her waking hours, Gemma — who Davis welcomed via domestic adoption in 2011 — is taking a cue from her artistic mother. "She's a little young," Davis said at the P.S. Arts event, describing her daughter as creative. "We're very into chalk. The crayons kind of elude her at this point, but we're working on it."
