In the end it was won by Gotta Have It! Collectibles who set a massive new record for an auctioned dress. The previous being just $222,500 for a blue dress of Princess Diana’s.
Their winning bid was $1.15 million, $1,267,500 with commission and at the time the owner said he had expected to pay $3 million making it a steal. Lots of other Monroe items were sold at the same auction bring the sales total that day to around $5.6 million.
