Missing border collie found up a tree in Iowa

Missing border collie found up a tree in Iowa, A missing border collie was found up in a tree just a few blocks from his home. Laddy, a 7-year-old border collie from Davenport, Iowa, escaped on Friday. According to the Associated Press on August 13, 2013, a dead battery in his invisible fence collar allowed him to slip away.

His love for squirrels and chasing things probably led him up the tree. Despite a few abrasions on the pads of his feet, he's otherwise fine.

The missing border collie was found when a neighbor heard a familiar dog barking. Ron Stevenson noticed that it was whining and sounded distressed. He went to investigate the source of the barking and found Laddy up his tree. He walked by his driveway, looked up, and saw the stuck dog.

Stevenson called 911, but the dispatcher was skeptical. This very cat-like behavior of climbing up a tree and getting stuck sounded odd. Luckily the responding officer recognized the missing border collie from a flyer. He was soon reunited with owner Cynthia Weeks. Laddy is catching up on his sleep and was no worse for wear other than some abraded paws.
