1954 Mercedes Benz Formula One racer sells for $29.6 million
This of course isn’t some rust bucket from the 80s or early 90s! No, this is a car with history, definite classic status and for some worth every single penny.
In July the car became the most expensive ever sold at Auction after it reached $29.6 million to a private bidder in the London auction.
The car was the 1954 W196 which was driven by five time F1 World Champ Juan Manuel Fangio. He raced the W196 and won two Grand Prix races in it.
Also it happened to be a monumental in history because the 1954 victories marked the first successive wins by Benz since their post-WWII comeback. Important, of course!
