Gretchen Carlson: ‘Friends’ had no-pants rule |
Carlson, who recently left “Fox & Friends” and will soon debut a new one-hour daytime program on Fox News, talked about the show’s pants rule during an appearance on her former co-host Brian Kilmeade’s radio show.
“Guess who just walked in? If you’re watching, if you have the podcast, Gretchen Carlson’s in, dressed casual kind of. Very nice,” Kilmeade said.
“Wait a minute,” Carlson said. “Nobody’s going to recognize me because not only am I dressed casually, I have on pants.”
Carlson then added, “now, pants were not allowed on Fox & Friends, remember?” Kilmeade, who regularly wears pants on the morning show, replied, “yeah, what happened with that?”
“So I have jeans on, Brian,” she said. “Welcome, welcome to the new Gretchen.” The two went back and forth about Carlson’s attire, with Kilmeade asking if she would be wearing jeans on her new show. “You might be the jeans show,” he said. “Might jeans be a requirement?”
“See, this is something that you always said on ‘Fox & Friends.’ You always liked to be shirtless,” Carlson replied, adding with a laugh that “sometimes you actually suggested that for me.”
The soon-to-be daytime host then said, “You never know what I’m going to show up in. I’m busy putting it all together and so, you know, I might forget my clothes the first day.”
Fox News has not yet responded to requests for comment on the dress code for “Fox & Friends.”
