Miss Uzbekistan mystery cracked: Miss World hopeful has fake title, pads resume? |
There is no Miss Uzbekistan because the country is predominantly Muslim and they don’t enter the Miss World pageant. It seems that this woman might have dubbed herself the contestant from that country and showed up pretending she should be there, complete with a padded resume.
The Uzbekistan National Committee on Women as well as the Uzbek Cultural and Sports Ministry have no idea who Rakhima Ganieva is. So far what is known is that Ganieva is a model from Tashkent, which is the capitol of Uzbekistan. She is competing in the Miss World pageant, but no one knows how she got there.
The country doesn’t run a competition to crown a Miss Uzbekistan, so it looks as though this young woman took it upon herself to show up at the Miss World contest and claim she is Miss Uzbekistan. She has even shown up in the Miss World promos on the contest’s website saying “I really want to win.”
A rep from the modeling agency where Ganieva trained for her career called her presentation "lies.” Zhavlon Momolov from the agency said:
“If there had been a process to choose a young lady for this competition, I can assure you that a much more beautiful model would have been chosen. I’m sorry that Ganieva is choosing to build a career on lies.”
