Naomi Campbell spit on cops at airport |
Miss Campbell, 37, is alleged to have spat at the officer as she was taken off a BA flight at about 5pm on Thursday evening.
It followed a lengthy dispute with airline staff over her luggage and it is believed she had tried to take too many bags with her into the cabin.
She is thought to have been concerned over the recent baggage problems at Terminal 5 and did not want her belongings to go into the hold in case they went missing.
Officers were called to the aircraft where they handcuffed Miss Campbell and removed her from the flight.
According to witnesses she was aggressive towards an officer who was trying to escort her. She was taken to Heathrow Airport’s police station where she was questioned.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "We were called at about 17.11 and alerted to a disturbance on board a plane to which officers attended.
A 37-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Heathrow police station where she was being held." A Heathrow spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that a passenger was removed by police from a BA flight."
Miss Campbell's spokeswoman Annabel Fox said this morning: "Naomi was flying to Los Angeles for a memorial service on Thursday, April 3. She arrived at Heathrow Terminal 5 in plenty of time, checked her two bags in and was told they would make the flight.
"Once on the plane she was told one bag could not be found and was missing. BA decided to resolve this by insisting she leave the flight and then called the police to forcibly eject her from the flight.
"She was taken to the Heathrow police station and released on police bail.
"So far as we are aware BA have still failed to offer any explanation as to why her bag went missing at Terminal 5."
It would not be the first time that the model has been at the centre of controversy at Heathrow.
In September she was seen swearing at airline staff in front of dozens of passengers after being told she could not board her flight to New York because she arrived just 11 minutes before take-off.
She also lost her temper in Bogota airport in Columbia in 2005 after bags containing her designer dresses and shoes were mistakenly sent to Houston, Texas. The model, who had just flown in from New York, threatened to get on the next flight out of the country if the problem was not sorted out.
