Christina Ricci Has An Ax To Grind In New ‘Lizzie Borden’ Poste, Christina Ricci is out for blood in Lifetime’s Lizzie Borden Took an Ax.
To get everyone as excited as humanly possible about the upcoming TV movie, the cable network dropped a brand new poster online. Check out the image in all its glory below.
Directed by Nick Gomez, Lizzie Borden Took an Ax tells the true story of a young woman who was famously tried and acquitted of two brutal murders back in 1892. In addition to Christina Ricci, The Killing alum Billy Campbell and Clea DuVall star in the drama.
Lifetime officially describes the flick as follows:
“On a scorching, hot summer day in 1892 in Fall River, Massachusetts, Lizzie Borden (Ricci) returns home to the house she shares with her father Andrew, stepmother Abby and sister Emma (DuVall). But, unlike any normal day, Lizzie encounters the bloody scene of her parents violently murdered. Police quickly question multiple suspects in town, but evidence keeps pointing back to the Borden’s youngest daughter Lizzie, the seemingly wholesome Sunday school teacher, as the prime suspect.”
The synopsis continued:
“Lizzie’s lawyer, Andrew Jennings (Campbell), proclaims her innocence arguing that it is inconceivable a woman could commit the heinous crime of brutally murdering her family with an ax. Or is it? Lizzie is put on trial for the murders, both in the courtroom and in the press, sparking a widespread debate about her culpability. As the case rages on, the courtroom proceedings fuel an enormous amount of sensationalized stories and headlines in newspapers throughout the country, forever leaving Lizzie Borden’s name in infamy.”
Christina Ricci and the folks at Lifetime aren’t the people putting together a motion picture based around the tale of Lizzie Borden and her infamous weapon. Director Dennis Devine recently put together the low-budget horror flick Lizzie Borden’s Revenge, a movie that follows the ax-oriented adventures of her fictional descendant Leslie.
When a group of college students attempt to contact the spirit of Lizzie during a ill-advised seance, the ghost begins picking off the kids one-by-one. The film should arrive on one format or another on February 4, 2014. Don’t expect to catch this one in theaters either.
The Lizzie Borden flick starring Christina Ricci, meanwhile, is presently scheduled for its Lifetime Network premiere on January 25 at 8 pm. Fans of the legend should definitely mark the event on their calendars. When you’re ready, take a good look at the poster below.
