Girlfriend sues over powerball win
Girlfriend sues over powerball win, A lottery winner's ex-girlfriend is suing over a Powerball win she claims belongs to her, in part. Pedro Quezada of New Jersey was sued by Inez Sanchez, a woman said to be his longtime girlfriend of ten years. While her claim to freeze his assets was denied, the lawsuit for a portion of the $338 million lotto prize money is pending, according to a Nov. 10 ABC News story.

Quezada's former girlfriend sued over the Powerball winning ticket because she believes her domestic relationship entitles her to a part of the lotto money received back in the spring.

According to Sanchez's attorneys, their client was Quezada's lover for ten years, they shared a home and child together, and were owners-operators of a grocery store in Passaic.

Nonetheless, Quezada's lawyers contend that the ex-girlfriend's lawsuit over the Powerball ticket should be dropped because the couple has never been married.

In another strange twist, the woman filed a domestic violence claim against Quezada and he has since moved out of the Clifton home they recently purchased together for $300,000.

Lawyers for the Powerball winner claim that most of the money is gone: $300,000 was spent on the Clifton home, $5 million was donated, $57 million was sent home to the Dominican Republic (Quezada's native country), and $20 million remains unaccounted for.

All this amounts to $82,300,000, but the lucky lottery winner received $152 million after taxes. That's a difference of $69,700,000, potentially remaining in dispute.
