New braunfels student dies, A New Braunfels student died after a fist fight which came without a warning right after two 15-year-old New Braunfels students had left their classroom. The New Braunfels student who died after the fist fight and his attacker had both attended a class together. “New Braunfels Police say the death of a Canyon High School student is the result of an assault, and not a fight,” reported Texas Public Radio on Nov. 14, 2013.
On Tuesday, around 9:27 a.m., police officers were called to Canyon High School in New Braunsfels after what was presumed to be a fist fight between two New Braunfels students.Upon their arrival, police found that faculty and staff members were trying to help the New Braunsfels student, 15-year-old Logan Davidson.
After the fist fight, the injured New Braunfels student was taken to an area hospital where he died on Wednesday afternoon. According to police, Logan Davidson had been knocked unconscious and was bleeding from the face after having been punched twice by his attacker, another 15-year-old.
The entire attack of 15-year-old Logan Davidson had been recorded by surveillance cameras and showed that the New Braunsfels student did not die after a fist fight but after a vicious attack by another 15-year-old student. According to Captain John McDonald with the New Braunfels police, “this was an assault.
Both of these young men were in the same classroom when the bell rang. And the victim walked out of the classroom where the offender was waiting for him and assaulted him." Captain John McDonald emphasized that the altercation between the two 15-year-olds was not a fight and that Logan Davidson “did not have time to react.”
The 15-year-old attacker of Logan Davidson has been charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, according to the New Braunfels Police Department, and is currently being detained at the Guadalupe County Juvenile Detention Center.
Neither the New Braunfels student who died after the fist fight nor his attacker had any previous disciplinary issues nor was there any indication which would have suggested that there was a problem between the two students.
