Sarah Palin's mayoral SUV hits eBay, How much would you pay for an SUV that used to belong to former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin?
Wasilla Mayor Verne Rupright is hoping at least $10,000. That's the starting bid for the 1999 Ford Expedition that he's listed on eBay, complete with Palin's likeness peering out through the driver's seat window.
Rupright says that the city of Wasilla purchased the car for Palin in 1999, which she used until the end of her second term of office in 2002.
“This was her mayor-mobile,” he told the Mat Su Valley Frontiersman. “Sarah had that for the rest of the time she was mayor, so we look at it this way. When you stop and think of who drove that, … why not get the biggest bang for the dollar for the city?"
Rupright is hopeful that someone will want the car, though it has yet to garner a single bid.
"Who knows, maybe some rich somebody from somewhere wants [Palin’s former vehicle]. She does have a great following and there are a lot of people who may want it," he added.
Palin served as Wasilla's mayor until 2002. She successfully ran for Alaska governor in 2006 and became John McCain's vice presidential running mate in 2008. She resigned in July 2009.
