Car of the year 2014, This year’s race to the North American Car and Truck of the Year award is winding down after the three finalists for each award have been named.
This year, GM leads the Car of the Year pack with the Cadillac CTS and the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, while the 2014 Mazda3 is the third contender. In the running for the Truck of the Year award are the Acura MDX, the Chevrolet Silverado and the all-new Jeep Cherokee.
The selection process includes some 50 jurors across North America, involving multiple drives and testing of each contender. The finalists were chosen from a shortlist of contenders announced earlier this month for each award. Nominees from the BMW 4 Series to the Toyota Corolla were on the Car of the Year shortlist, while the Truck of the Year list included the Buick Enclave, the Subaru Forester and the Toyota Tundra.
The winner of the two awards will be announced at next month’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month. Last year’s awards went to the Cadillac ATS and the Ram 1500, while the Hyundai Elantra and the Range Rover Evoque took the top prizes in 2012.
