"I should have changed it a long time ago, but once it was published it got paralyzing"

"I should have changed it a long time ago, but once it was published it got paralyzing,  A lie can come back to bite you in the behind much further ahead in the future and even a simple one. In 2012 after only 4 months on the job Yahoo CEO Scott Thompson found a lie come back to haunt him.

The lie in question was on his resume. A place many people have embellished! It said that in 1978 he had degrees in both accounting and computer science from Massachusetts’ Stonehill College. However the computer science degree turned out to be a phantom! He never had it!

How did it end up on his resume? He first claimed a headhunting company were responsible. One he had worked with ten years prior. However the firm defended it’s honor and proved that the resume was submitted just like that!

Talking about the lie he said ”I should have changed it a long time ago, but once it was published it got paralyzing”

And it certainly did, he ended up having to quit the post in a shroud of shame! Ouch.
