Julie Chen sure knows how to talk the talk.
The TV host didn't hold back in giving her view on Jenny McCarthy joining the cast of her talk show rival.
"What made 'The View' so popular and so good was that it was five different women from five different walks of life discussion politics," Chen, a co-host on "The Talk," said during an interview with Howard Stern Wednesday, according to E! News.
The 43-year-old TV personality didn't stop there. Her candid response to Stern's question about whether ABC made a mistake in recruiting McCarthy went on to include how the show's past success has since went downhill.
"No one wants to hear Jenny McCarthy talk about the New York mayoral race or politics," Chen added. "They don't. That's not what you put Jenny McCarthy on for."
McCarthy, 41, joined "The View" on Sept. 9 to kick off the show's 17th season.I'm so grateful to be here. I'm grateful to have a job; I'm a single mother," the former Playboy Playmate said on her debut show. "This is the greatest show in the world. Thanks to the fans who supported me to get here. I hope I do you justice."
But Chen's flip-flop criticism included her saying that McCarthy, who she called "beautiful and talented," would actually fit in better on "The Talk," since they stay away from political discourse.
Still, she stuck behind her comments about the network's questionable decision when they employed McCarthy.
I'm not telling ABC anything they're not wondering themselves," she told Stern.
Chen's co-host Sharon Osbourne was more cordial in her review.
"They knew what their path was. You knew what to expect," she added during the interview with Stern. "You watched it for their different opinions and now it's kind of all over the place. It's not one or the other."
However, she previously had rather harsh comments about "The View" cast during an interview on "The Arsenio Hall Show," when she said that, with the exception of Barbara Walters, "the rest can go f--k themselves."
Osbourne, 61, later retracted her snide remarks.
"I want to apologize to Jenny, Sherri and Whoopi, who are all accomplished, self-made women who have amazing careers," she said during an episode of "The Talk." "They have achieved so much. Please understand it was irreverent behavior and no disrespect meant. I'm not a person that is mean and I apologize."
