Knowshon Moreno explains what caused his monstrous tears, Knowshon Moreno’s super tear ducts are as much a mystery to the Denver Broncos running back as they are to the rest of us.
A clip of Moreno crying during the national anthem before Sunday’s game against Kansas City went viral, and Moreno hasn’t been immune from ribbing about the way tears just gushed down his cheeks.
“Definitely hydrated,” Moreno joked on Monday. “I don’t know, I guess the slow motion made it look a little worse than it was.”
Moreno insisted that he’s just an emotional guy, and he gets “fired up” to play.
“Excited to play this game, excited to be a part of this team, definitely blessed and privileged to be able to play this game,” Moreno said.
Moreno’s over-the-top emotions are not surprising to his teammates and coaches, who have grown accustomed to Moreno’s antics that include leading the team out of the visiting tunnel at a full-on sprint before every road game, and silly dances after big plays, like his Army crawl after a long first-down catch-and-run Sunday against Kansas City.
The tears probably weren’t even anything new, even if the waterworks were maybe a little more intense than normal.
“I’m aware of it. I already knew that. It’s kind of different when they put it on national television,” head coach John Fox said. “He’s a real emotional guy and he plays with a lot of passion and I think that’s what makes him who he is and I think that’s why he’s got great respect in that locker room and in this building.
