La Toya Jackson, 57, married someone who many thought were just friends with the singer-songwriter-turned entrepreneur. Moreover, the reality star was supposed to be looking for love and was lining up dates to find "Mr. Right."
An insider says that La Toya and the show's producers ran out of ideas. Thus, the quest for a lover took place, or so it seems. Nonetheless, the same source said it was for entertainment purposes only and La Toya and Jeffre were already romantically involved.
But she’s been with Jeffre for years. He's featured on the show as La Toya's 'business partner and close friend,' but everyone who knows them personally knows they’re in a relationship," said the unnamed source.
I met everyone in her family before her. I knew Michael and Jermaine and everyone before I met La Toya and to be honest I thought she was the odd one! Then I met her and saw how smart and talented she was and we just became instant friends," said Phillips.
Still, he did the right thing and asked Jackson patriarch, Joe Jackson, for La Toya's hand in marriage.
La Toya getting married is not all that surprising; she's been the subject of controversy over the years. Jackson posed for Playboy in 1989, alleged that her ex-husband, Jack Gordon, was abusive during their marriage, she wrote a seething tell-all book about the Jacksons, and so on and so forth. The latter sent her into somewhat of an exile.
Nonetheless, La Toya has since gotten her groove back, has published several books, became a fan favorite on NBC's "Celebrity Apprentice," and is starring in her own TV reality show.
It's a really good time for me now and I don't have the limits that I had for so long. I couldn't date because of my religion and I couldn't do so many things for so many different reasons. But that's over now so I can focus on what makes me happy and doing things creatively that are really me," Jackson said in a recent interview about her new show.
When La Toya married her beau, her mother Katherine was present to witness the nuptials.
