Marge Simpson

Marge Simpson
Marge Simpson, Marge Simpson has been wearing the same green dress since the show started in 1989, but she's just been given a wardrobe makeover thanks to the stars of Project Runway.

In the latest episode of the Lifetime series, the designer contestants compete to create the prettiest new dress for the cartoon character, in honor of the Simpsons' 25th anniversary.

Marge told the designers in a video message she wanted 'No green!' and they didn't disappoint; the winning look was a floating purple strapless dress, with shimmering black beading on the bodice.

Marge also told that contestants that Homer requested the dress be 'easy to remove', in case he should be 'feeling particularly frisky after one too many Duffs'.
Irina Shabayeva, the designer who won the challenge, was inspired by the idea of Marge getting gussied up for the occasion.

'I'm really happy with my look,' she says in a clip from the episode. 'And I feel like it's a big anniversary so she's going to want to wear something spectacular.'

Irina's glamorous design was a thigh-length purple cocktail gown, with floating layers of fabric in the back and on either side.

While it's a far cry from Marge's normal simple green dress, the ensemble's strapless neckline - similar to that of the green dress - indeed seemed to be something Marge would wear.
