Miranda Kerr from Australia, Miranda Kerr has opened up for the first time about her split from Orlando Bloom.
"It's difficult for anyone to go through a separation, whether it's on a public scale or not," the 30-year-old model told Harper's Bazaar Australia magazine. "
It was important for us long-term to preserve our friendship and the dynamic of being loving parents to Flynn so we dealt with everything openly and honestly."
Flynn, of course, is the former couple's 2-year-old son.Flynn is the most important thing in both our lives. And because we share that bond, we both feel it's important to be united," Kerr said.
She added, "We respect each other and with respect comes understanding. When there's understanding, I guess everything is a little more harmonious. We're still very big parts of each other's lives. There's no reason for us to be anything but a united front. We still love and care for each other deeply."
Last week, at the premiere of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Bloom shared Kerr's sentiment, telling E! News, "We're a family and we'll always love each other and we're going to be in each other's lives."
The 36-year-old actor noted, "What [Flynn] reads and knows about when he's grown up is more important to me than anything. We both love and cherish each other and then our boy, so it's great."
E! News was the first to report on Oct. 24 that Kerr and Bloom had separated after three years of marriage.
