Krystal Barrows, 35, was killed by a stray bullet fired by an officer during a raid on U.S. 23 in Chillicothe, Ohio, Wednesday night. Ross County Prosecutor Matt Schmidt said the round was not intentionally fired, and it’s unclear whether the gunfire was the result of a weapon malfunction or user error. Six people were arrested in the raid, which netted large amounts of heroin, multiple pistols and assault rifles, a large sum of cash, drug abuse instruments and stolen goods.
Michael Ward, 23, was shot in the chest and killed while playing with his new .22-caliber gun in Tampa, Fla., Wednesday evening. The victim showed his girlfriend, 20-year-old Mandy Avis, how to handle and shoot the gun, and she pointed it at his chest and pulled the trigger, believing it wasn’t loaded. They had reportedly been smoking marijuana. Avis faces a charge of manslaughter.

Chris Dinkins, 50, was shot and wounded following an argument in Knox County, Ky., Wednesday night. The victim was in his minivan parked in the driveway of Fred Meyer, 86, when police said Meyer fired a shot from his porch, hitting Dinkins in the face. Meyer was arrested. A neighbor said Dinkins and Meyer have known each other for years, and the argument stemmed from Dinkins’s wife moving in with Meyer to take care of him.
