Restaurant near Rockefeller Center catches fire

Restaurant near Rockefeller Center catches fire, The Fire Department of New York says the blaze broke out Friday night in the basement and ventilation system of a TGI Friday's restaurant.

Witness Kirby Gargantiel says he saw thick black smoke near the six-story midtown Manhattan building. A photo on Twitter shows flames shooting from the roof.

A fire department spokesman says the flames likely came from a vent.

City officials warn of traffic delays in the area. Transit officials are rerouting 11 bus lines.

Records show the building has kitchens in the basement and on the fourth floor. A dining area occupies the first through third floors, and offices are on the fifth and sixth.
