Angelina Jolie explains her tattoos

Angelina Jolie explains her tattoos, The promotional tour for Salt is only going to get hotter, and hopefully, Angelina will find her rhythm soon, because in her two major interview thus far (Parade and Vanity Fair), she’s come across as rather full of it and haughty, and I’m saying that as a fan, lovers and haters.

Angelina is in Washington DC right now, doing limited press and preparing for what I think will be a DC premiere. She sat down with MTV News to talk about her thigh tattoo that was seen in the Vanity Fair pictorial (“It’s for Brad”), her desire to work with Tim Burton, and her conditions for doing the Cleopatra movie (MTV video clips included below):

It’s safe to say Angelina Jolie is as well known for the details of her personal life as she is for her work as a Hollywood actress. Occasionally, however, those two aspects collide, like when her onscreen characters sport some of her real-life tattoos. And Jolie’s penchant for ink has been well-documented, both in the tabloids that follow her closely and in her big-screen appearances. But observant fans recently spotted some new work when Vanity Fair ran a cover story on the A-List star.

MTV News caught up with the star this week in Washington, D.C., where Jolie was promoting “Salt,” and we had to ask about the tattoo. But the actress was tight-lipped about what the ink, on her inner thigh, actually said.

“Um, it’s for Brad,” Jolie demurred with a smile.

She was more open, she said, when it comes to her personal life.

“I actually think it’s important to be completely honest, however difficult that may be,” Jolie told us about what makes a relationship successful. “I’m bad at hiding secrets anyway,” she added.

Jolie also revealed that her partner, Pitt, had yet to see the action flick, which opens July 23.

“He hasn’t seen the movie,” she said. “Maybe he’ll question me after he sees it,” she joked of playing a string of wives-with-secrets. Jolie admitted she couldn’t be sure how her choice in roles might affect their offscreen relationship. But she was sure Pitt would enjoy “Salt.”

“Oh, of course,” Jolie said. “He was there for the shooting and he would come to set and he’d seen some of the stunt sequences and stuff. He thinks it looks cool and all of that, but he hasn’t seen the whole thing. He’ll see it at the premiere.”

Angelina Jolie has a lot of movies in development, apparently, and she’d love to make ‘em all! In this video, a reporter from MTV asks her if she’ll actually make any of them, and she manages to give a convincing “maybe” as her answer to everything. But the project that seems most likely to see a screen: Tim Burton’s Maleficent, a take on Sleeping Beauty’s evil queen.

“It’s all new and being discussed,” she says of the project. “But I loved her when I was a little girl. She was my favorite. Tim Burton, the chance to work with him would be extraordinary.”

As for the rumors that she’ll she’ll star in an upcoming Cleopatra biopic, she says the film doesn’t even have a director yet, but she’d like to tell “the real story” of the Egyptian queen someday

“I think if we can get the story right, and do the real story,” she said of a possible script. “I think there’s a lot about her that’s never been covered yet. So if we can do something original, we will.”

Jolie’s name has also been attached to two other films: “Serena,” an adaptation of the Ron Rash novel to be directed by “The Wrestler” helmer Darren Aronofsky, and a cinematic portrayal of Kay Scarpetta, the protagonist in Patricia Cornwell’s best-selling book series. The actress didn’t seem to have much information about either feature, but prospects for “Serena” seemed to be a little more concrete.

“We’ve talked about it, and I would love to work with Darren one day,” Jolie said, adding that the project itself was perhaps less important than her potential collaborator. “So if it’s not that, it will be something else. But I think he’s one of my favorites.”

Scarpetta, on the other hand, seems further down the road. “I think they’re writing a script,” Jolie said. “It’s in development,” she laughed, acknowledging she was short on news.Of Angelina’s in development projects,

I’m most excited about Maleficent and the Kay Scarpetta film. I hope the Scarpetta one gets made soon, and I hope they pair her with someone really good for Marino, someone like James Gandolfini. And yes, I do think Angelina was meant to work with Tim Burton. She can do big and cartoony characters very well, and it would be interesting to see her as a villainess.
