Denise Richards adopts Eloise Joni (VIDEO), Denise Richards says the adoption process of baby Eloise Joni took two years to complete.
After years of hardship, Denise Richards is finally feeling some joy in her life. In fact, she has a bundle of it.
The actress poses with her newly-adopted daughter Eloise Joni in the new issue of Us Weekly and says her adjustment to having another newborn has been "incredible."
"She's brought so much joy, and I love her to pieces," Richards, 40, tells the mag. "She loves being hugged and held. She's such a beautiful little baby and little soul."
With a big smile on her face, Richards is pictured cradling her new baby girl, who has a head of dark hair and brown eyes. The adoption process was an emotional journey for Richards, who is already mom to daughters Sam, 7, and Lola, 6, with ex- husband Charlie Sheen.
Some people think if a celebrity wants a baby, they get one the next day. The adoption took two years, and there were times I felt discouraged, times when I got close to adopting a baby and it fell through. But I knew the right baby would find us," she says.
Without revealing too many details about the adoption, Richards says she's been with Eloise since the day she was born. Though her baby news was kept secret from the public, the actress was "honest and up-front" with her two daughters about the addition of their new sister.
"I told them it was something private for only our family to know about, and one day a baby will arrive," she shares.
Despite their troubled marriage, Richards also shared her secret news with Sheen.
"We talk every day," she says of her troubled ex. "He's met her. He knows how much I love, love kids, so he was very supportive."
"Charlie is truly very happy for me," she adds. "He knows I always wanted kids."
