Kate Gosselin files federal lawsuit against ex-hubby, They didn't split amicably. And now they're battling each other in a federal lawsuit.
Kate Gosselin filed papers today in Philadelphia in which she claims Jon Gosselin hacked into her computer and phone accounts and stole her hard drive to get personal information for a 2012 tell-all book, Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World, written by his friend and business partner, tabloid reporter Robert Hoffman.
The book was removed from large distributors such as Amazon because the information was obtained illegally, notes the lawsuit, but adds that the damage was already done. In the book, Kate was accused of treating her dogs poorly and using corporal punishment (spanking, pulling hair and hitting them with a wooden spoon). Kate Haters had a short-lived field day with it.
The couple became famous on the TLC show Jon & Kate plus 8, detailing life with their twins and sextuplets, before they separated in 2009 and later divorced. Kate was a nurse before they married. Jon worked in information technology.
The lawsuit accuses Jon of identity theft, wiretapping and invasion of privacy. Kate's seeking compensatory and punitive damages, along with court fees and actual damages. Jon and the author have not responded to the filing yet.
