Minnie Driver on her son's father, Actress Minnie Driver has revealed her father lived an elaborate double life and kept her own family a secret from his wife and legitimate children.
The 43-year-old Hollywood star spoke publically for the first time of her shock at discovering her mother was actually her late father Ronnie Driver's mistress, as part of BBC family history show Who Do You Think You Are?
Driver said she first made the discovery at age 12.
Her father had set up her mother, model Gaynor Millington, in a London flat where she lived with Driver and eldest daughter Kate Driver.
Their existence had been kept under wraps from Ronnie's wife Annie and daughter Susan.
It was also revealed that Ronnie had previously been married to Ada Wood Stancliffe, with whom he shared a son, actor Leslie Stancliffe.
Driver was similarly unaware of her father's history of mental illness and WWII military service, for which he was awarded a bravery medal after rescuing three people from a fire.
She said she hoped these discoveries would help her to fill any gaps for her three-year-old son Henry.
