Bill Hudson on Kate Hudson: She's a spoiled brat
Bill Hudson on Kate Hudson: She's a spoiled brat, Bill Hudson, father of actors Kate and Oliver Hudson, is revealing intimate details of his life with ex-wife Goldie Hawn and their children in a new tell-all book. Two Versions: The Other Side of Fame and Family will chronicle Hudson's life, focusing on the dark side of fame and the parental alienation he claims to have been put through by Hawn after the dissolution of their three year marriage in 1980.

"Parents can often become alienated from their children when they don't have primary custody," a message posted on TheBillHudson.com reads. "Hopefully, at some point, this family will be able to have a healthy adult relationship before it's too late." Kate, 32, has expressed anger toward her biological father in the past, going as far as to tell Vanity Fair in 2000 that he "doesn't know me from a hole in the wall, but I don't care. I have a dad (Kurt Russell, Hawn's partner of almost thirty years). The bottom line is, you call your kids on their fucking birthday. I'm glad I had a dad who was there on my birthday."

Shortly after, Bill responded to her comments in the Daily News, saying, "Kate is very talented and sweet and I love her dearly. She's had a life of privilege from both parents. And the only thing that she really has to talk about is emotional devastation; that she's exaggerating. I need to stop bleeding. Kate and Goldie are doing this for the press." You'd think if the guy wanted a good relationship with his child he would stop publicly bashing her, but after all these years, he still doesn't quite understand that. Just yesterday, he sent another low blow his daughter's way via RadarOnline.com, saying "I love Kate, but she has done stuff which is just awful. She is a spoiled brat in my eyes and at the end of the day, she should meet her little sister. I should meet my grandchild and she should help her grandmother," referring to his mother who is currently battling Alzheimer's disease. He went on to say, "Kate doesn't have to talk to me and she doesn't have to give her a dime of her millions. All I want is for her to call and say, 'Hi grandma', before it's too late."

I wonder if Kate even had a relationship with Bill's mother, as she doesn't seem to have had much of one at all with Bill. It sounds to me like he is using her disease as a way of publicly guilt-tripping Kate into making contact with him. Despite her father's negativity toward her, Kate seems to be in a very good phase of her life. She and rocker boyfriend Matt Bellamy welcomed their son Bingham Hawn into the world this past July, making a big brother out of Kate's first child, Ryder Russell Robinson, whom she had with ex-husband Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes in 2004. Her latest film, Something Borrowed, was met with healthy box office returns when it was released this past spring.

Hawn, now 65, is releasing a book of her own, entitled Ten Mindful Minutes. It's her second effort as an author, after her 2005 bestseller A Lotus Grows in the Mud, which focused on the important lessons she had learned in her life up until that point. Ten Mindful Minutes will focus on her work in schools to bring a new philosophy of teaching into the curriculum. The program, called MindUP, has been implanted in twenty schools in Newark, NJ, to a very positive response. Hawn told The Huffington Post that through MindUP, she and The Hawn Foundation wish to "equip children with the social and emotional skills they need to navigate the challenges of the contemporary world in order to lead smarter, healthier, and happier lives."

Hawn and her children have made no comment on Hudson's statements. I must say, I'm much more interested in reading her latest book than his. Even if he is telling the truth about being alienated from Kate and Oliver during their childhood, bashing his daughter and ex-wife in the press doesn't add up with his claims that he wants to obtain a mended relationship with them. Hopefully the family can peacefully work things out in private.
